History & Identity

Bold Futures is excited to uplift our newest Touchstone Group, the Doulas & Birth Keepers. This group is an expansion of our Diné Birth Keepers, and the foundation of birth and reproductive justice work they have laid. The Diné Birth Keepers define themselves as "an intergenerational touchstone group that uses Diné healing concepts as they relate to sustainable reproductive healthcare for Indigenous people and providers." The Doulas & Birth Keepers (DBK) define and demonstrate themselves to be the true embodiment of the word “doula”- as educators, healers, caretakers, and allies. And while this group holds heart work as their guiding force, there is also deep awareness around the need to heal the healers.

“I envision a world where our Indigenous communities can have safe care through prenatal, labor and postpartum.”

Why We Support Doulas

DBK holds the duality between being the strength it takes to uplift communities in need, and being gentle with themselves in the process. These doulas actively work through individual and collective grief to continuously show up as better versions of themselves. This group strives to combat the limiting beliefs that don’t serve their greatness. The goal of Doulas and Birth Keepers is to share resources, healing, and ancestral knowledge to aid in people’s healthcare outcomes and overall wellness. Bold Futures is grateful for everyone in the Doulas & Birth Keepers Touchstone Group, and looks forward to uplifting more collective wisdom and expertise from these incredible humans.
